I Heard the Worm Glug By My Ear

I heard the worm glug by my ear;
I've seen grass seeds thrust their spear;
I've felt the pelt of late spring deer;
I've smelled the smell of rabbit fear.

I saw the worm thrust on the hook;
I've searched the glitter in the brook;
I've sensed the dampening cool of boot;
I heard clear songs of midnight trout.

I've eaten of cow and frog;
I've feasted on fowl and fig;
I've gobbled the flesh, gnawed the bone,
And ingested the rascally pig:

I'll eat the flesh
I'll suck the bone
I'll die alone
I'll feed the worm.
