Just Desserts: Liver Waffles, August, 1907

The squirming facts exceed the squamous mind

--Wallace Stevens

Willy nilly on a plate
The silent liver waffles wait:

Now the large red pig tongue
Spirals forth betwixt the foaming snorks of tusk,
Stretches wetly
Snatches waffle
From the fingered hand:

Pig devours juicily pig.

Supping under silver moon
Night frivolously reamed by dream-scented shadows,
I recall
Pig screams:

How small, the twirling eye
Winking from my porky pie.

On to Kooftah
