The Love Poems
of Honniker Winkley

Ipso Facto Burp

On dainty handkin, the stain of pig . . .
Loose juice
Streaks pied silk,
Spreads like bandy spider legs:
Someone murmurs
"Silk sucks grease."

Late in flying autumn
Goose and plum
Bake well among the bean,
Roast fruity warm
In raisin wine --

Goblet!
the turkey protests
Giblets!
cuddled in the crusts

And at last
Soaked in succulence
The rum pig
Slips easily from fork to tum
Splashes
Digests
Warms.
